Although crisis situations can take many forms, some of the most challenging occur when an individual threatens harm to themselves or others, barricades themselves, or takes hostages. Special Agent Tim Sutton of the FBI Omaha Crisis Negotiation Team joins us for an inside look at the FBI's crisis negotiation program and how the team responds to these situations.
A key takeaway will be active listening — practical techniques that can help de-escalate tense situations, improve communication, and work toward acceptable resolutions. These are skills that apply well beyond a crisis, including in our personal and professional lives.
